Thank you to everyone who attended our LSUS Alumni + Business Connect event!

Special thanks to the Cyber Innovation Center for hosting and to CEO Kevin Nolten, a two-time LSUS alumnus, for helping make this event possible. We are also grateful for the collaboration with the Center for Northwest Louisiana Regional Impact. Under the leadership of Director Jessica Hemingway, the CNLRI is paving the way for stronger connections between local business and LSUS talent.

Lastly, thank you to Glow Alchemy Kitchen for the beautiful (and tasty!) charcuterie boards that guests enjoyed throughout the evening.

As artificial intelligence transforms the workplace, employers continue to value skills like active listening, conflict resolution, resilience and navigating difficult conversations.

☝️ That will be the focus of the upcoming Human Advantage Summit, hosted by the LSUS College of Business and LSUS Continuing Education.

Featuring LSUS business alumnus Matthew Hammock, this half-day summit will combine professional insights with interactive breakout sessions. Participants will explore how AI can help them prepare for challenging conversations and strengthen professional relationships without losing the human touch.

As an important first for our statewide campus community: our first-ever systemwide virtual Domestic Violence Awareness Month webinar for students across every campus in Louisiana. Our alumni is invited to join in as well.

On Thursday, October 1, Domestic Violence Awareness Month launches with “Is it Complicated, or Coercive Control?”—a virtual program open to students, alumni and members of all our campus communities.

Facilitated by Thecia Jenkins, this engaging 60-minute conversation will help participants distinguish between relationships that may be described as toxic or “complicated” and patterns of abuse and coercive control. Participants will learn to recognize abusive behaviors, consider strategies that enhance safety, and develop a better understanding of healthy relationships.

Please join the Master of Liberal Arts (MLA) Program this Friday, September 25, at 6:00 p.m. in the University Center Theatre for a special screening of The Roots That Bind Us, followed by a panel discussion.

This powerful documentary explores Louisiana’s history of non-unanimous jury verdicts, a Jim Crow-era policy designed to silence Black jurors and secure convictions even when juries were deeply divided. The evening offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, engage in meaningful conversation, and consider the lasting impact of this history on Louisiana and its communities.

We are especially pleased to welcome LSUS alumnus Devin Williams as part of this important campus event.
