An unbelievable loss to LSUS and the entire community. We will share more details as we have them. For now, please remember his family and loved ones at this challenging time.

We are shocked and saddened to report the sudden passing of our beloved Marty Loschen (Jack Pride). We know of no details or further information, except that he passed away peacefully at his home here in Shreveport. Please keep his family and all of those who loved him in prayer at this time. When we know further details regarding final arrangements, we will let everyone know.

The loss is staggering. Here he is with LSUS students, conducting archaeological and cultural resource field work, something he loved so well.

This evening, LSUS faculty (including Dr. Cheryl White) hosted a public Q&A and panel discussion for the Noel Archives Special Collection exhibit of political cartoons from Shreveport history.
“Durable Art: The Timeless Relevance of Political Cartoons” will be on display in the third floor assembly room of Noel Memorial Library through January 30. These provide a fascinating glimpse of our local historical culture - check it out!

The Secrets of the Copper Scroll (Dead Sea Scrolls) will air on May 19, about a mysterious and unique scroll found among other ancient scroll discoveries in 1952 at Qumran near the Dead Sea.

Dr. White also consulted for and appears in multiple episodes for the forthcoming Season Two of Holy Marvels, also on The History Channel, which highlights objects and lore of religious and spiritual meaning. The new season begins airing on June 3.
