On this auspicious day, after a 2 and a half month break, we are fortunate to begin the second online session of Mipham Institute’s first year. Today, we are gathering for Tibetan Grammar and Philosophy (Bodhicharyavatara) Review class.

Greetings to everyone! We are happy to share the news that we have successfully completed our first semester with our last online class held on last December 11.

Over the last few months, students have received a line by line explanation of the first five chapters of the 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘢, together with the Shenga 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘭. Our heartfelt thanks to Khenpo Karpo for sharing his kindness and insight into the text!
In our Tibetan Grammar class, students have progressed from learning the Tibetan alphabet to reading simple Tibetan and studying main verb structures, and are quickly improving their reading skills. Our intermediate Tibetan students have read excerpts Longchenpa's 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 4 𝘋𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘴 and have now begun reading the 𝘚𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘭 directly in Tibetan.

Congratulations to our students for their sustained efforts and progress! We are now in a Winter Break until March 2nd. We are grateful to all the support we have received for our first semester and we wish everyone a happy and fulfilling 2026. 🎊

Going through chapter 5 of Shantideva's 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳a in the philosophy program under the guidance of Khenpo Kharpo la, who's been holding engaging Q&A's at the end of each class. In Tibetan Reading students have begun reading and translating Khenpo Shenga's 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘢 - an opportunity to spend more meaningful time with this inspiring text.

We are more than halfway through the Fall online session. Some students join from their homes in different states, and some continue to live at Padma Samye Ling and gather together for classes there.

We are now 3 weeks into the online semester. Khenpo Kharpo la, who completed his education at Namdroling Monastery, has recently joined the Philosophy program to teach 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘢, using Khenpo Shenga’s 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘢 as commentary

We've officially wrapped up our first 4 week in-person session. We are coming to the end of our 2 week break now, and from next week we will be transitioning into our first online session for the next 2 months.
Padmasambhava Buddhist Center - New York has been a wonderful host for our student's study and practice, with Heika and Ozer offering delicious meals everyday.

Happy full moon, lunar eclipse, and first day of Mipham Institute’s orientation.

Our day consisted of a warm welcome and guide to living at PSL (Padma Samye Ling) by Lama Laia, a walking tour where we enjoyed the surrounding nature and learned about the history of this land and buildings, and a special evening practice with Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche and Lama Lorraine.

We are grateful to Rinpoche and all who make this program possible, may all beings benefit.

Announcement: Tibetan Language Standalone Program!

We are now offering our Tibetan language program as a standalone option. Students who cannot commit to the full program can register for the Tibetan language program only. Interested students should send their applications to [email protected], mentioning that they are interested in the Tibetan-only option.

This program will follow the same hybrid schedule, but will be a lighter load without the Buddhist philosophy courses.

Mipham Institute is a 3 year hybrid program to connect with the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
