Our second session of Health & Fire Science Camp welcomed students to Cochise College's Downtown Center, where they explored exciting careers in healthcare and emergency services through hands-on learning and interactive experiences.
Campers toured the college's state-of-the-art training facilities, interacted with lifelike patient manikin simulators, and learned about the important roles of emergency responders, nurses, medical assistants, and certified nursing assistants. Throughout the week, students practiced CPR, first aid, wound care, and fire science skills while making new friends and gaining confidence.
The excitement continued as students suited up in firefighter safety gear, experienced the weight and purpose of the equipment, and even had the opportunity to operate a powerful fire hose during hands-on fire science activities. At the end, the students earned a youth CPR certification card through the American Heart Association (AHA), giving them a valuable credential and life-saving skills they can carry into the future.
Thank you to our faculty and staff for their time and dedication in providing another memorable week of learning, teamwork, and career exploration!
If your high school student is interested in pursuing these careers, Cochise College's Early College Programs can help them begin working toward a culinary certification while still in high school. Contact us at [email protected] or 520-515-4511 to learn more.
