Civic Engagement Goes Beyond the Ballot Box! 🗳️

Voting is important, but making a difference in our communities doesn't stop at the ballot box.

Brothers of the Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. participated in a community discussion focused on why civic engagement matters, how to get involved, and the many ways individuals can make a difference beyond voting.

The conversation emphasized the importance of being informed, getting involved, and taking an active role in strengthening our communities.

👏🏾 Special recognition to Bro. Matt Green for organizing this meaningful event and to Bro. Ray Farmer for bringing greetings on behalf of Iota Upsilon Lambda.

Service to Our Community. Commitment in Action. 🖤💛

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter continued their commitment to community service through Montgomery County's "Adopt-A-Road Program".

Working alongside community volunteers and scholars from Montgomery College, our Brothers rolled up their sleeves to collect roadside litter, help protect the local environment, and keep our community looking its best.

This is more than a one-day cleanup. It's part of IUL's ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve.

Special thanks to Bro. French Pope for organizing this effort and providing continued stewardship of IUL's Adopt-A-Road activities.

We also recognize Bro. Chief Rice, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing several volunteer scholars from Montgomery College to support and strengthen our cleanup efforts.

Thank you to every brother, scholar, and volunteer who contributed their time and energy!

On Monday, October 5, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter continued our commitment to voter registration, education, and civic engagement at Montgomery College's South Building in Silver Spring, Maryland.

👏🏾 Special recognition goes to Brothers Joe Reed and Jeremiah Pope for organizing and coordinating IUL's Voter Registration and Engagement event. Their leadership helped bring this important community outreach effort to life, with support from Chapter President Adrian Nelson II and Brother Lee Jarmon, all pictured here representing Alpha's continued commitment to service and civic empowerment.

Rooted in our historic national program, "A Voteless People Is A Hopeless People", established in the 1930s, Alpha Phi Alpha continues a proud legacy of promoting voter education, registration, political awareness, and empowerment.

For more than 40 years, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and March of Dimes have stood together in a shared commitment to healthier families and stronger communities.

On Thursday, October 8, the Brothers of Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter proudly showed their support for March of Dimes at its Heroines of Washington event, celebrating a partnership that continues to make a difference.

Through Project Alpha, our fraternity's longstanding collaboration with March of Dimes helps equip young men with knowledge about responsible decision-making, teen pregnancy prevention, and health issues that affect families and communities.

We were proud to have Chapter President Bro. Adrian Nelson, Past President Bro. Will Frazier II, and March of Dimes Chair Bro. French Pope represented at this special occasion.
