Registration is OPEN for the Mt. Rushmore Diabetic Foot Reconstruction Forum June 25-27 in Sioux Falls. This three-day forum brings together an international panel of leading clinicians, researchers, and thought leaders.

Registration is complimentary for SSOM faculty, staff and students!

South Dakota Hall of Fame Inductee Class of 2026 - Dr. Dan Petereit

"Invested in Cancer Care for All"
A Sioux Falls native and radiation oncologist at Monument Health, Dr. Petereit founded the NCI-funded Walking Forward program in 2002 to address cancer disparities among Native Americans. The program has enrolled over 5,500 Native Americans in clinical trials—the highest nationally—and facilitated over 2,500 cancer screenings. A 1989 MD graduate, Dr. Petereit is a Clinical Professor at SSOM.

South Dakota Hall of Fame Inductee - Dr. Gene Hoyme 🌟

“A Global Pioneer in Pediatric Medicine”

Raised in Dell Rapids, Dr. Hoyme is a pediatrician and medical geneticist who developed the internationally recognized Hoyme Diagnostic Criteria for fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. He held multiple leadership roles before returning to South Dakota in 2007, where he co-founded Sanford Children’s Hospital and the first genetic counseling graduate program in the Dakotas. Dr. Hoyme is Professor Emeritus at SSOM.
