When I refer to this lodge, I’m not talking about the building we meet in today. Fellowship No. 84 dates back to 1824 and is one of the oldest organizations in Smithfield—having even survived the Civil War battle that took place here. Our records include many of the most prominent names in Smithfield’s history.

Freemasonry offers young men a structured environment that can profoundly in a noble way impact their character and values. At its core, the fraternity upholds true unbreakable faith in Almighty God, emphasizes moral and ethical lessons, using allegory and symbolism to teach principles like integrity, honesty, and personal responsibility. Engaging with these teachings early in life provides a strong moral compass, helping young men navigate life's challenges with a clear sense of purpose and ethical conduct. This framework of self-improvement fosters discipline and critical thinking, shaping Masons to become not only successful in their personal endeavors but also conscientious members of society.
Joining a lodge also promotes charitable work and community service, offering an effective platform for young men to make a tangible difference in the world. By participating in local and national Masonic philanthropic efforts, young Masons learn the value of altruism and the power of collective action. This hands on experience in helping others instills a profound sense of civic duty. For generations, Freemasonry has offered young men something rare
a structured path to becoming their best selves.

Within the walls of Regular Masonic Lodges, timeless good lessons are passed down through allegory symbolism and teachings that shape integrity, responsibility, and a strong moral compass. It’s a foundation that guides young men through life’s challenges with clarity and purpose.

But Freemasonry is more than principles it is men of honor. Freemasonry is an ancient fraternal brotherhood of mentors, leaders, and professionals who share their wisdom, offer support, and help young men grow in confidence and character. This amazing fellowship builds lasting bonds, fosters discipline, and empowers the next generation of leaders.

And at its heart lies service. Through charitable work and community involvement, young men learn the true value of compassion thus discovering how powerful it is when men work together to uplift others.
