Tomorrow is the day.

Join us for SMCC’s Fall Open House Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-noon at our South Portland Campus. Meet faculty and staff, explore academic programs, tour our waterfront campus and learn about admissions, financial aid, student support services and campus life. WJBQ - Q97.9 will also be LIVE near the HUB during the event.

Then stay for the SMCC Fall Festival from noon-3 p.m. behind Spring Point Hall. Activities include a club fair, mechanical bull, giant obstacle course, caricatures, glitter tattoos, cotton candy, a popcorn bar and free barbecue. October is Get to Know TRIO Month at SMCC!

Have you seen the TRIO office in the South Portland Campus Center and wondered what TRIO is all about? October is your chance to find out. Throughout the month, TRIO will be out and about on campus with pop-up tables where you can meet the team and learn more about the personalized advising, coaching and other support available to eligible SMCC students.

TRIO is also hosting Art Nights, Get to Know Your Strengths sessions and drop-in registration help for spring.

Southern Maine Community College will recognize five outstanding individuals and organizations during the 2026 A Light on the Point celebration on Friday, Nov. 6.

This year’s honorees are Michaela McVetty, Outstanding Alumnus Award; Jessica Conley, Outstanding Faculty Award; Jim Whitten, Outstanding Staff Award; Bring Back the Trades, Outstanding Business Award; and Dr. John Fitzsimmons, President’s Award.

A Light on the Point celebrates the people and organizations making an impact at SMCC while raising funds to support scholarships, emergency assistance and other resources that help our students succeed.
