Hey guys! My name is Georgie McDevitt, and I’m a Junior Biology major from Maryville, TN (Go Vols!! 🧡)

My is the people and the community. As soon as I toured campus, I immediately felt at home with the school. (It also helps that my twin goes to school 5 minutes away at Converse.) The people here truly want to help you succeed in everything you do—whether that be your sport, your art, your academics, or even just your in-class competitions for extra credit. In my time here at Wofford, I’ve had the opportunity to continue my track and field career, get hands-on experience in my favorite subjects ( ), be a lab assistant, and be a part of multiple organizations that help improve the Wofford community (Wofford Asian and Pacific Islander group and—next year—Wofford Anti-Racism Coalition). Even in just my short time left, I have so many more amazing opportunities to experience—rooming with my teammates in the Senior Village, working on a post-graduate fellowship, conducting research alongside a professor, grabbing even more coffee from Acorn Cafe, and some Superman ice cream from Burwell

Hi!!! My name is Janie Holecek, and I am a Government and German Major with a concentration in Political Theory. I am a sophomore from Knoxville, TN and I came to Wofford knowing only a few people. Throughout my time at Wofford, I have made dear friendships, been able to intern in Washington, D.C. with Congressman Joe Wilson, and take part in different organizations on campus. Whether it is being involved as a member of the Honor Council or be able to give back to the Spartanburg community through my sorority’s philanthropic events, I have found that Wofford has made me into the woman I am. Wofford professors are unmatched; Dr. Alvis and Dr. Jeffrey are known for inviting their students to their homes for dinner, and the relationships I have with them with continue long after I graduate. Additionally, this community has encouraged me to grow deeper in my faith, making my Wofford experience even more special. On campus I give tours as an Ambassador, and I love being able to tell prospective students just how much I love this place. Whether it’s an enriching conversation with a professor or sunbathing with friends in front of the library, Wofford College has supported my academic, social, spiritual, and intellectual growth these past 2 years. I wish I had known to become involved more my first semester because I have found that I have created the most meaningful memories and friendships through my sorority, the Honor Council, the German Club, and the Neumann Club.

Hello!!!! My name is Lily Cochrane and I am a Finance major and double minor in business and studio art from Birmingham, AL. I did not know many people coming into wofford and the page for freshmen made it seem as if every single person going here was from SC hahah, so I was very nervous to say the least. As soon as I got on campus I felt so welcomed by everyone, and my nerves quickly went away. I am so glad I chose wofford because there is nowhere I would rather be! Hey Terriers! My name is Jay Stevens and I am a senior from Spartanburg, SC. I am majoring in Accounting, Spanish, and Finance.

These past four years at Wofford have been so transformative and impactful on my life and have shaped me into the person I am today!

I currently serve as the President of the Edward K. Hardin Pre-Law Society and as the Alternatives Portfolio Manager for the James-Atkins Student-Managed Investment Fund. I also serve as a peer tutor, a staff writer for our student newspaper, the Old Gold & Black, and as a mentor at a local elementary school. I have also been an O-Staff leader, done summer research, and worked various jobs and internships in and around Spartanburg! Coming to Wofford gave me a chance to get to know Spartanburg as a college town, but also to have a deeper connection and sense of belonging to the city I have always known as home.

I hope others love and enjoy Wofford as much as I have over the past four years! Thanks for listening to my story!

Hey everyone!! My name is Lizzie Richards and I am a current junior at Wofford from Columbia, South Carolina! I am pursuing a double major in History & Art History as well as a concentration in Gender Studies.

Over these last three years, Wofford has given me amazing friends, mentors, professors, memories, leadership opportunities, and chances to get involved on campus in different clubs and organizations.

I am currently serving on council as the Panhellenic Delegate for Kappa Delta, have been involved with the Admissions Office and giving tours, am a member and ally of Wofford Asian and Pacific Islanders, a peer tutor, work as a conservation intern at the Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Art Museum, a student representative on Wofford’s Fine Arts Advisory Committee, and the Engagement Coordinator for Campus Union’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Committee. I will forever be grateful of everything Wofford has exposed me to and the tight knit community that makes campus feel just like home. I love Wofford and can’t wait to tell you more about my story!!

Hey Terriers!

My name is Hannah Sterling and I am a junior (but graduating early in December 2022) from Snellville, GA. I am a finance and spanish double major.

I have experienced so much in these past 3 years that have honestly changed who I am for the better.

I am currently the president of Wofford Women of Color, I am a part of Black Student Alliance and the Entrepreneurship + Innovation Launch Program. I was also blessed to receive the Black Alumni Association Travel Grant to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain free of charge. I have been able to stretch my skills academically, emotionally, and physically. I have started a few businesses in college, which is my online women’s clothing boutique and a social media managing business through my Tik Tok called . I have been blessed to received so much support from my fellow Terriers and to have a college experience that has grown me personally.

My name is Avery Dew and I am a sophomore from Winston-Salem, NC. I am a finance major and studio art and business minor.

In the past two years, Wofford has opened many doors for me, leading me toward self-growth, happy memories, and lifelong friendships.

It is truly such a privilege to be involved in Wofford Women’s Lacrosse, Wofford Kappa Delta, and Wofford’s Entrepreneurship + Innovation Launch Program. Through these extracurriculars, I have found growth in myself in ways like never before. Wofford Women’s Lacrosse constantly pushes me to give 100% everyday and challenges me mentally and physically only to grow stronger. Through Kappa Delta, I have had the opportunity to make lifelong friends and make an impact on the Spartanburg community through service. Wofford’s Launch Scholarship/Program has allowed me to further my entrepreneurial thinking skills and given me the resources to grow my small businesses and .

I am so grateful for the close community here and am reminded everyday I chose College as my home!
