🎓 Congratulations to SMC student Nina Shea, the 2026 recipient of the Keith Crossland Scholarship!

Nina was presented with the scholarship today by board members of the South Carolina Probation and Parole Association. Her application stood out for her clarity of purpose, impressive academic record, and strong commitment to serving others.

The Keith Crossland Scholarship was established in memory of Hearings Officer Keith Crossland to honor his dedication to service, leadership, and helping others. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional promise and embody the qualities he represented.

Sometimes, the path you plan isn’t the path you’re meant to take.

When Ben Burden (’26) arrived at SMC, teaching wasn’t even on his radar. He planned to earn his associate degree in science and transfer into a civil engineering program. But an opportunity to lead one of his religion classes helped him discover something unexpected: a passion for teaching.

At SMC, Ben didn’t just find a new career path. He discovered a whole new vision for his future. 🎓✨

A record-breaking start to the academic year at SMC! Spartanburg Methodist College welcomed a record number of bachelor’s degree students this fall, continuing the growth of our four-year programs since their launch in 2019. 💙
