We know many of our alumni, supporters, and friends are wondering who will be coaching the team this year with Coach Mike Ingram retiring…and here’s our answer!

Rylee Walter ‘19, who served as Assistant Director of Forensics from 2021-2026, will move into the role of DOF, and Tucker Wilson ‘20 will return to the Arguing Bucs, this time as Assistant DOF. Tucker has great competitive and coaching experience that will make him an asset to our program. Both Rylee and Tucker are so excited about the season ahead and grateful for the support they’ve been shown so far. They can’t wait to get started!

Honoring Coach part 2/3: the painting!

Sophomore Madalyn Dotson spent the better part of the school year secretly working on commissioning a painting to honor Coach’s lasting impact at Whitworth, and she finally got to reveal it to him just before the semester ended! Funded through an ASWU grant, the painting creatively depicts classic speech and debate themes like people having discourse, a timer, and an interp binder, as well as Whitworth-specific symbols like the flag and pinecones. A special thank you to artist Byeongchan Jeong, a 2026 Art and Human Computer Interaction graduate, for his work on this piece.

The painting’s final location is TBD, but we’re so excited for everyone to see this beautiful tribute to Coach and forensics on campus this fall! Thank you, Madalyn, for your work to honor coach through a permanent display. ❤️🖤

A quick pause in our transition-focused posts to celebrate our spring 2026 GPA!

This spring, our collective average GPA was 3.79, reflecting our students’ deep commitment to academic excellence. Not only did over 75% of our students earn 3.75s or higher, but we also had five 4.0s—over 1/4 of the team! We are so proud of the dedication, organization, and hard work that went into this high GPA, especially amidst competing in three national tournaments.

Go bucs! 🏴‍☠️

Of course, we also have to honor our retiring head coach, Dr. Mike Ingram! This is part 1/3: the retirement party 🥳

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the alumni reunion and Coach’s retirement celebration back in April! The Arguing Bucs community is just so special. It was a wonderful weekend of catching up, reminiscing, and honoring Coach’s incredible legacy - the perfect sendoff for a man who has shaped countless lives over 38 years at Whitworth ❤️🖤
