Greetings All,

The Pikes Peak inspection is back on. We have selected Saturday, September 26th as the day. We hope you are interested in going, but due to the short time frame you will have to make your own arrangements. The plan is to arrive on Friday night the 25th; those attending will meet at Edelweiss German Restaurant, 34 East Ramona Ave., Colorado Springs at 6:45 p.m. We need to know in advance who will be attending as reservations are required.

On Saturday, the 26th, our group will meet at the Cog Railway at 8:30 a.m., with the Cog leaving at 9:20 a.m. A roundtrip ticket will cost $72.99 per person. The trip will last approximately 3 hours total. Your tickets may be purchased at cograilway.com and need to be acquired 2 to 4 weeks in advance.

A Royal Gorge Railway train ride and meal is planned in Canon City upon our arrival back from Pikes Peak Cog ride. Your tickets may be purchased at royalgorgeroute.com and, also, need to be acquired 2 to 4 weeks in advance and be sure to book the 3:30 PM excursion. Those going will meet in the parking lot of the Silver Saddle Motel at 1:00 p.m. and we will carpool from there to Canon City. The train ride is approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. A Coach train ticket is approximately $109.00 per person and the meal is extra. Meals will be ordered off the 403 Grill menu.

We are planning on staying at the Silver Saddle Motel, 215 Manitou Ave, in Manitou Springs. This is where we have stayed in the past. It runs around $110.00 per night and is a decent place to stay and the phone is, (719-319-0413.) There are other motels in the area for you to choose from.

Please, send me an e-mail if you are planning on going so I can have an idea of how many are attending; no later than August 24th. Wayne Drake, [email protected]

Thank you,
Wayne D. Drake
R:.I:. Deputy Grand Master

There were over 70 Companions at the Great Plains Rendezvous today at Russell. This includes our candidates and the members of the Most Illustrious Grand Councils of Cryptic Masons of Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming.

We had 20 candidates take the degrees of Royal Master, Select Master, and Super Excellent Master while 5 took the SEM degree only.

Thank you to Tom Krauss and the members of the Hays York Rite bodies for providing such an excellent lunch of prime rib and baked potato.
