The Health Services Student Org had the opportunity to prepare a meal at Ronald McDonald House in Mercy Hospital last week! We are so privileged to have Ronald McDonald House Ozarks as a part of our community serving families in need!

Upcoming community opportunity for HS students!! MGMA offers membership to students, as well as ways to build your professional network, enhance leadership development, and to connect with healthcare leaders. Consider attending if you’re a student interested in the business aspect of healthcare!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! This week, our Health Services faculty attended a breast cancer awareness luncheon with some of our friends from Missouri State University Nutrition and Dietetics ! Don’t forget to add a little pink to your BearWear Fridays this month!🩷

October is Health Literacy Month! Last week, students in Sarah Bowman’s Health Literacy course (IPE 599) created Patient Education handouts using the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT) framework. Using plain language for patients is a key skill in healthcare!

Two IPE 599 students, Breanne and Maysen, made great handouts! They are visually appealing, well organized, understandable and actionable. Nice work, guys!

Tell your advisor you want to add IPE 599 to your Spring schedule! They’re having FUN!

One of our recent graduates, Abby Dunker, is our alum spotlight today! Go Abby!🥳 She has an update/encouragement for current students:

“Since graduating from Missouri State, I’ve moved to St. Louis and started my Master of Health Administration at Saint Louis University! I’m loving grad school and continuing to grow in the healthcare field. I definitely miss MSU and the people who made my time in Health Services so special. Take advantage of every opportunity and connection you make, you never know where they might lead you!!!”
