Katharine Buchanan developed Flowing Forward, an adaptive aquatic recreation program designed to help adults living with neurodegenerative conditions build confidence, foster meaningful connections, and stay engaged through the power of movement. 💧

By creating opportunities for participation in a supportive aquatic environment, this project highlights how occupational therapy can promote wellness, independence, and quality of life, one splash at a time.

Celebrating Our Student Pharmacists, a huge congratulations to Ijo, Dom, and their fellow WNE student pharmacist on completing their Walgreens internship this summer!

To wrap up the experience, each student delivered a 20–30 minute presentation identifying a real-world issue they observed at their Walgreens location and developing a plan to address it. This was a great opportunity to put their pharmacy education into practice through problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional leadership. We love seeing our students gaining hands-on experience, tackling real challenges in pharmacy practice, and continuing to grow as future pharmacists.

🔬🐻 WNE Pharmacy Students Take Their Research to the National Stage!

We are proud to celebrate our College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences students and faculty who represented WNE at this year’s AACP Pharmacy Education Conference!

Sumaiya Zakir, Yanixa Quiñones-Avilés, and Cecil James Buguis presented research spanning pharmacy education, natural products and complementary medicine, genetics, and pharmacogenomics.

We also recognize Dr. Sarah DeFilipi and Dr. Natalia Shcherbakova, who presented pedagogical research in pharmacognosy alongside their students. Their work examined natural product and complementary medicine education across U.S. pharmacy schools, research made possible through countless hours of collaboration and analysis. Opportunities like these allow our student pharmacists to work alongside faculty, contribute to meaningful scholarship, and bring their work to the national stage.

Congratulations to all of our WNE students and faculty who represented us at AACP! 💙💛🐻
