Key priorities included expanding internship opportunities and bringing more live industry projects into capstone courses so our students can gain meaningful real-world experience.

CBM is proud to feature research by Dr. Minh Tam Schlosky and Dr. Serkan Karadas as part of the Faculty Research and Teaching Colloquium Series (FRTCS).

Their presentation, “A Tale of Two Literacies: Numerical versus Self-Rated Financial Literacy of U.S. Investors,” examined the gap between what investors know and what they think they know about personal finance.

Their research provides valuable insight into how confidence, personality, and financial knowledge influence investor behavior and decision-making. Thank you to Dr. Schlosky and Dr. Karadas for presenting your research!

Yesterday, our Accounting, Economics & Finance students had the opportunity to connect with professionals from Eck Schafer & Punke, LLP (ESP) at our Meet the Firm event!

We were pleased to welcome Kristi Corpin, Jim Hogge, Jason Jones, Sandy Jones, and Sam Sgro to University of Illinois Springfield. They spent the evening connecting with students, answering questions, and sharing valuable insights about the accounting profession and career opportunities in the field.

Experiences like this give our students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom, build professional relationships, learn directly from industry professionals, and expand their networks.
