Maine 4-H volunteers—this day is for you! 🍀

Join 4-H volunteers from across the state for the 2026 Maine 4-H Volunteer Summit, a day of connection, practical learning and fresh ideas to bring back to your club or county.

Whether you’ve been a 4-H volunteer for 20 years or 20 minutes, you’ll have opportunities to connect with other volunteers and staff, build new skills and explore resources to support your work with Maine youth.

The day will include interactive learning, workshops, a 4-H Discovery Zone, networking, lunch and more.

We’re looking for an organized, customer-focused Administrative Specialist to support UMaine Cooperative Extension Agriculture and Horticulture programs in York County. This position serves as an administrative hub for the office through connecting community members with Extension resources while supporting the staff, volunteers, educational programs, and events that serve York County. From coordinating program registrations and communicating with clients to managing financial records, websites, marketing materials, and event logistics, this is a varied role for someone who enjoys both people and details.

🐑🐐 Small Ruminant Parasite Management Intensive

Are parasites causing problems in your flock or herd, or do you want to be better prepared to identify and manage them?
Join us for a hands-on workshop designed for sheep, goat, llama, and alpaca producers! Learn about common internal parasites, including lungworms and the often deadly meningeal worm, and gain practical experience with parasite management tools. Build your confidence in making evidence-based parasite management decisions to improve the health and productivity of your animals!
🔬 Participants will practice:
• Performing f***l egg counts using a microscope
• Using the FAMACHA protocol to assess anemia and barber pole worm risk
• Setting up a diagnostic tool for lungworm detection
• Identifying signs of parasitic disease
• Developing targeted treatment and pasture management strategies
Participants will become FAMACHA-certified and will take home a DIY Baermann apparatus. Farmers are encouraged to bring a fresh f***l sample from one animal to examine. Lunch is provided!

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and eager to learn alongside 4-H youth from across the country? Ignite by 4-H 2027 is your chance to grow as a leader, deepen your knowledge in an area that excites you, and make your mark on the future of 4-H in Maine.

We’re seeking 20 motivated Maine 4-H youth (ages 14–18) to represent our state at the Ignite by 4-H in Washington, D.C. Delegates will work in a focus area group, participate in planning meetings, attend the national event, and collaborate to create a resource for younger Maine 4-Hers.

The 4-H event of the year is only a few weeks away! Acton Fair is August 27th - 30th. Come support our 4-H members by patronizing the 4-H Food Booth for breakfast, lunch or dinner, watching the 4-H livestock shows, and viewing the exhibits on display at the 4-H Hall. We hope to see you there!
