The new program combines business strategy with healthcare-focused coursework in management, finance, law, ethics, information systems and healthcare delivery, while emphasizing the Franciscan values that define an SBU education.

A meaningful milestone on Sunday, May 17, as 6 cadets from St. Bonaventure University’s U.S. Army Senior ROTC program were commissioned as second lieutenants.

Held at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, the ceremony included the Silver Dollar Salute, a tradition marking the first salute received as a commissioned officer.

The group represents the Seneca Senior ROTC Battery, which includes cadets from St. Bonaventure, Alfred State College, Alfred University, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Houghton University.

Two student speakers shared messages graduates will carry long after Commencement weekend.

Emma Spadoni, who earned her bachelor's degree in Communication, Social Justice and Advocacy, reminded classmates that failure is part of life and growth.

"You cannot control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you respond," she said.

At Saturday’s graduate ceremony, MBA graduate Shantell Wilson encouraged classmates to move forward with confidence and purpose.

“When your purpose, your values, your voice, and your actions finally stop pulling in different directions, you stop shrinking,” she said.
