Sad tidings from the Grand Chapter…
Companions and Sir Knights, it saddens me to inform you of the passing of MEC E. Allen Kohler Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons 1976, Honorary Past Master of the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons 1998, and Honorary Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery 1995.
MEC E. Allen, aged 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2026, with family by his side.

E. Allen Kohler, 88, of Huntsville, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior May 14, 2026, with family by his side.
Allen was born in Huntsville, Missouri January 15, 1938. He was the son of Estele and Anna (Hackley) Kohler. He attended public school in Huntsville and graduated from Huntsville High School in 1955. He attended Moberly Area Community College and entered the University of Missouri in the School of Business Administration in 1959. While at the University, he became a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and is a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi.
While in high school, Allen was employed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank, Huntsville, and continued working in the bank while attending Junior College. While attending the University of Missouri, he was employed by the Exchange National Bank, Columbia. After graduation he continued working for the Columbia Bank and was employed by Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. for 4 years. In 1965 he returned to the Farmers and Merchants Bank, and retired from the bank.
Allen’s life long passion’s included shooting sports, trout fishing, and gun collecting. He enjoyed hunting, but attending Trap Competitions around the State of Missouri was his passion. He made many friends over the years attending shooting events and through his many civic organizations.
Allen served 6 years in the Missouri Army National Guard, 175th Military Police Battalion, Company C, Moberly, Missouri where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1966 having served as Communications Chief and Supply Sergeant. In 1970, he spent 2 months in England as a member of the Rotary Group Study Exchange Team from Rotary District No. 605.
Allen’s community service activities reached far beyond his banking career. Locally, he was a volunteer fire fighter for the Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department; Fire Chief for the West Randolph Rural Fire Association; and consultant to Westran Fire Protection District. He was a faithful member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church serving in many roles through the years.
Allen began representing the City of Huntsville in 1985 on the Clarence Cannon Wholesale Water Commission (CCWWC) Board of Directors until 2016. Allen served as vice- president and president of the CCWWC Board of Directors where he represented the Commission at State meetings and traveled to Washington, D.C. on several lobbying efforts.
As a member of the Huntsville Lion’s Club, he served as President and Treasurer. He attended many State Wide events and was elected District 26C Governor in 1966. 2005-2006 he was elected District 26M-6 Governor for Lion’s International. He traveled to Hong Kong representing the district in 2005. Allen’s passion for shooting sports helped develop the Huntsville Lion’s Club shooting sports facility north of Huntsville. He served as President of the Huntsville Community Club; Treasurer of the Huntsville Merchants Association; Treasurer of the Huntsville Cemetery Trust Fund; and various other local organizations.
Allen’s Masonic activities spanned more than 60 years with his being raised in the Huntsville Lodge No. 30 where he served as Worshipful Master for two terms, 1969 and 1971. His extensive activities included being Junior Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge of Missouri 1973-74; he was elected Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Missouri in May 1976; charter member of the Bruce Harmon Hunt York College; Director on the Masonic Home of Missouri; Worthy Patron of the Dorothy Chapter NO. 131, O.E.S; Ararat Shrine of Kansas City; Treasurer of C**n Creek Shrine Club; Order of the High Priesthood; Missouri Association of Past Commanders; and 32 degree member of the Columbia Valley of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite.
Allen is survived by his sister Doris Howard of Huntsville; niece LeAnne Waters (Eddie) of Montana and nephew Larry Howard of Biever.
