What a way to start off the academic year! Thank you to the 700+ students who stopped at the Haas Center for our Cardinal Service Fair. There were more than 90 tables with representatives from Cardinal Service programs, student orgs, and campus and community partners sharing how students can get involved in service at Stanford.

And let's not forget the service opportunity dorm competition. Over 90 students packed 100 disaster preparedness kits for Rise South City and 50 hygiene kits for Ecumenical Hunger Program.

We're so grateful to all of the students, staff, and partners who joined us for our biggest event of the year.

When Briana Martin-Villa graduated from Stanford in 2023, she wanted to use her degree in bioengineering to improve health outcomes for underserved communities. Her Gardner Fellowship helped launch her public service career, working on the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy's Health Outcomes team.

When reflecting on her fellowship experience, Briana is especially proud of her contribution to the Biden Cancer Moonshot, which was a national effort to end cancer, improve cancer outcomes, and provide greater support for families impacted by a cancer diagonsis. In her role, Briana delivered the first-ever Spanish remarks on behalf of the Cancer Moonshot to engage and inform the Latine community about this initiative.

Briana is now a medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, where she is focused on expanding access to medical care in rural and historically under-resourced communities, including farmworker communities.

Our Ford Fellows had an end-of-year meeting in NYC for reflection and celebration as their fellowship period comes to a close.

The fellows—Chelsey Arellano, Enrique Flores, and Erick Rocha—have spent the last 11 months working in the philanthropy space. During their time together, they visited Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and spoke with colleagues at the Ford Foundation. They also had a dinner with Ford Fellowship alums Estefania Acuña, Gabby Crooks, Olivia Fu, and Maggie Roache.

🏆🎬🍿 And the Haas-car goes to... our incredible seniors!

We just celebrated awards season—er, we mean, graduation at the Haas Center! So many students devote themselves to public service during their time at Stanford. As our seniors prepared for the next step of their journey after Stanford, we had our annual Senior Send-Off to celebrate this momentous occasion with their families and loved ones.

This year's theme was "The Haas-cars: Your World Premiere." Mini awards, red carpets, a step-and-repeat, and brunch (plus a whole lot of popcorn!) greeted our seniors and their families. We loved getting to share this exciting moment and honor the commitment of these graduating students.

They have used their talents and their Stanford education to improve lives across the globe—Jacqueline by advancing innovative approaches to fighting poverty and developing ethical leaders, and Paul by helping negotiate peace agreements, strengthen democratic institutions, and pursue accountability in conflict zones. I’m thrilled to recognize them both with the Stanford Award for the Advancement of the Common Good.” - President Jonathan Levin, ’94
