Latin Evensong at Stanford University

Latin Evensong at Stanford University Latin Evensong, held on third Wednesday of every month. Organized by Stanford Classics, with generou Texts in both Latin and English will be provided.

This meditative service of music, readings and prayers derives from the Latin Book of Common Prayer (1560) authorized by Elizabeth I for use in schools and universities. No doubt Milton and Newton among others would have been familiar with these texts. Attendance at this service permits one to experience a once vibrant but now almost vanished tradition and to connect in an experiential way to the

cultural influence of the Book of Common Prayer. All are welcome, regardless of faith tradition or lack of faith, to attend and to participate in whatever way is personally comfortable. Join us on the second Wednesday of every month during the academic term.
