Come join Hume on Thursday, May 13th from 4-5 pm PT for Thursday English Afternoons (T.E.A.)! You can sign up at bit.ly/humetea.

T.E.A. is a free program that offers conversation practice for undergraduate and graduate multilingual students at Stanford. The Hume Center’s student tutors (OCTs and writing tutors) are available to guide general conversation practice in the college classroom, provide tips on cross-cultural communication, discuss basic skills in communicating in class or via email, and help with an introduction to academic speaking. You’ll have the opportunity to refine your English-speaking skills by talking with tutors and other multilingual students. For this quarter, we’ll also consider what speaking tips we can make better use of while communicating exclusively online.

Please come join us and spread the word! Please sign up at bit.ly/humetea, and we will send you our Zoom link.

I am currently writing a script that I hope I will one day direct, and have quickly realized how difficult it is to make a good story. Recently, I watched a film called Empathy Inc. which left me blown away. The film follows a character named Joel, a failed tech venture capitalist, who becomes involved with a suspicious extreme virtual reality company of the same title name. I was very impressed by how dark, but compelling the story was! It did a good job of mixing in conversations of both privilege and class in a thrilling way. I loved the film and hope you all give it a chance and go see it on VOD!
