Learn how to use the Smithsonian Institution's free, online learning resources in programming for families with young children (age 4-8). The Talk with Me Toolkits (TMTs) feature high-quality artifacts (photos, videos, paintings, artwork) from the Smithsonian's world-renowned digital collection and provide caregivers with questions to start conversations with their children. They also include new vocabulary words, hands-on activities, and 3 recommended picture books. Each TMT follows a theme such as "Who lives in the soil?" and "Can it fly?"

Supported by an Institute of Museum and Library Services grant, 6 TMTs have been re-designed based on rigorous feedback from families and librarians at 4 Family Place Libraries across the USA. Learn how the TMTs can foster fun family learning and interaction through your library, community program, family literacy program, early childhood education site, or school.
