With only 9 Days until PHUNC VIII, we are excited to announce the last of our committees! In place of Death Star Planning, we present: Salem of the South, run by Victoria Belka!
1. Why did you choose to take on this committee?
I’ve always loved thinking about and imagining the magical community and their interactions. Anna, the creator of this committee, and I both took a history course about witchcraft, which has come in handy to run this committee.
2. How is this committee meaningful to you?
It’s an honor to be trusted with a committee that Anna spent so long preparing and designing!
3. What can delegates expect to see happen in your committee?
Salem of the South is about the relationship between the five communities that all claim New Orleans as home: the Voodoo queens, the ritual witches, vampires, werewolves, and humans.
4. Do you have a favorite delegate position?
My favorite position has to be the mayor of New Orleans. It’s a position with a lot of responsibility, and the position is effectively trapped between two worlds and has the power to reveal-or conceal- whatever they want.
5. What are you hoping delegates will get out of this committee?
A magical, mystical fun time that encourages them to think about our own (non-magical) communities and their goals.
6. What are you hoping staffers will get out of staffing your committee?
Experience in running a committee, and an unforgettable image of me in a witch’s hat.
