The purpose of the Subunit coincides with that of the American Fisheries Society. Other objectives of the Subunit include to: encourage the exchange of regional fisheries data between students and subunit members, encourage involvement with the subunit, state chapter, and parent society, promote professional development and research involvement, and promote fisheries and fisheries education within the local community.
