Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated honors Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, as an historic moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the last enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, marking the true beginning of freedom for all.

We proudly recognize the efforts of our own trailblazing Soror, Opal Lee, the “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” whose unwavering advocacy helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday in 2021.

Today, we celebrate emancipation, reflect on our ancestors’ strength and resilience, and recommit to the work of advancing justice, equity, and unity. Through education, action, and solidarity, we move closer to a world rooted in true freedom for all.

As Pride Month begins, we proudly uplift the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our support for equality, dignity, and love for all. We believe everyone has the right to love who they love, every day of the year.

This reminds us that love knows no boundaries. It calls us to honor every individual’s right to be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. This month, we celebrate Pride with our q***r Sorors and ensure that they are loved, seen and appreciated each and everyday of the year.

Since 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has been committed to addressing the pressing issues of each era. For more than 105 years, we have stood as a voice for the underserved and a champion for marginalized communities.
