Some exciting accomplishments for our Tulsa graduate students!

For the first time, we have two graduate students from OSU-Tulsa’s Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering program that have earned Vertical Flight Foundation scholarships in the same year.

Steven Yon received the Redstone Chapter Barry J. Baskett Scholarship in the master’s category, and Pratibha Bhandari received the Dr. Frank Caradonna Scholarship in the doctoral category.

Even more exciting, Pratibha is the first OSU Ph.D. student to receive a VFF scholarship since 1995!

These highly competitive national awards recognize exceptional students conducting research in vertical flight and aerospace engineering.

This past Saturday, April 25th, our department had a great time participating in OSU’s Junior Day!

As the College’s largest recruitment event of the year, Junior Day gives high school juniors a chance to explore academic programs and discover what makes OSU special. 🚀 Speedfest 2026 was a hit! 🚀

On Saturday, April 25, 45+ teams competed at Speedfest XV, drawing an estimated 1,200+ spectators for a full day of high‑speed racing and aerospace innovation. ✈️

We had a fantastic showing from our MAE students and faculty at the AIAA/ASME Regional Symposium 👏

Several students presented their work here, and we are so proud of the strong participation from the newly revived ASME chapter. Out of 38 total presentations, 16 were from OSU‑MAE, with even more representing OSU overall. So proud of everyone who took the time to participate and represent the department so well.
