🔸Where in the World are Our Extension Folks?🔸

Long time, no see, friends!

Our state specialists have been busy this semester teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, traveling to conferences, doing research, AND extending their resources and knowledge to state and community constituents.

Last week, Dr. Cline and Delaney traveled to Blanchard, OK where they presented a CliftonStrengths workshop to the greenhouse personnel at 3J Farms. The staff were excited to kick off another great season with this leadership training. What better way to learn about personal and teammates’ strengths than being surrounded by plants?!🪴

All was fun in the name of greenhouse leaders!

On January 30th, Dr. Cline traveled to Norman for the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association’s annual conference, where she presented workshops to industry professionals.

🔸Where in the World are Our Extension Folks?🔸

Last week, our Extension folks attended the 2026 Extension Biennial Conference where members of Extension from each of Oklahoma’s Land Grant universities gathered together to discuss updates and engage in workshops.

Dr. King, Dr. Cline, and Dr. Brown co-presented a workshop on “Tangible tools for your community engagement.”

Delaney presented a workshop titled “Pause…take time for reflection: Empowering youth through experiential learning.”

Dr. Cline co-presented a workshop with another departmental faculty member, called “Beyond burnout: Tools to thrive.”

All was fun in the name of Extension collaboration!

🔸Where in the World are Our Extension Folks?🔸

Last week, Dr. Brown’s AGLE 3303 Leadership Theory class hosted the youth from Payne County Youth Services, Inc. for a fun-filled day in all things agriculture. The students were divided into groups and paired with a faculty member to provide a mini lesson and activity on various agricultural topics to the youth. The youth got to hear about opportunities at Oklahoma State Ferguson College of Agriculture, see how taste panels are conducted for meat, and ended the day at the Dairy Center.

All was fun in the name of immersing in agriculture!

🔸Where in the World is Our Extension Assistant?🔸

On November 19, Delaney attended the 4-H Winter In-Service where she presented a workshop on the experiential learning model. Workshop attendees participated in a team leadership activity that they could later use as ideas for their own programming then reflected and discussed the underlying concepts of the activity, thereby executing the experiential learning model! Attendees then discussed how they might incorporate the model into their own practices.

All was fun in the name of learning through experiences!

On November 18, Delaney attended Payne County Youth Shelter’s Donor and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and accepted the Outstanding Collegiate Award on behalf of the Agricultural Leadership program for its continued partnership with PCYS led by Dr. Brown. We are so grateful and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Last week, Dr. Brown traveled to Millwood Elementary Learning Academy where she taught the youth about the process of ‘farm to table’ in which they discussed where food comes from.

🔸Where in the World are Our Extension Folks?🔸

It has been a very busy November already for these Extension folks! Check out what they have been up to!

November 1: Delaney taught a workshop about the legislative branch to enthusiastic 4th-6th graders at the Oklahoma 4-H Junior Governor program event, where future civic leaders learned more about their state government.

November 2: Delaney traveled to Wewoka, OK to teach the 4-H district officers about values-based leadership, teaching them how to be authentic leaders in their future 4-H endeavors across the state.

November 2: Dr. Cline traveled to Denver, CO to deliver a presentation, “Enhancing Collaboration and Reducing Burnout in Rural Food Animal Veterinary Practice through Problem-Solving Training,” at the American Association for Extension Veterinarians Symposium.

November 3: Dr. Cline taught the OSU Collegiate 4-H club about values-based leadership and being an authentic leader.

November 3-5: Dr. Brown, Dr. King, and Delaney attended the Rural Renewal Symposium with fellow OSU personnel as well as rural enthusiasts from various other states. They presented sessions and posters discussing their work in rural spaces.

November 4: Dr. Cline traveled to Edmond, OK where she presented a workshop about generational differences in the workplace at the Oklahoma Grape Growers and Winemakers Conference.

November 5-6: Dr. King traveled to Altus, OK for the Rural Confluence Annual Meeting. She had a fun and rural-filled week!

All was fun in the name of Extension!

This morning Delaney worked the Collegiate 4-H booth with some club members to showcase Collegiate 4-H efforts and activities to visiting high schoolers during the Say Yes to FCS event.

🔸Where in the World are Our Extension Folks?🔸

Last week Dr. Cline and Delaney traveled across the pond to Prague, Czechia for the International Leadership Association Conference where leadership professors, researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts of all disciplines and backgrounds joined together to discuss the latest updates and efforts in the field.

Dr. Cline presented an oral presentation discussing a needs assessment for the undergraduate agricultural leadership curriculum. Delaney presented a poster for emerging research and an oral presentation for literature review, both of which discussed a rural youth civic leadership curriculum for 4-H.

The pair enjoyed the sights, cuisine, sessions, and connections!

All was fun in the name of leadership collaboration!
