We just love Niblack Research Day! What INCREDIBLE work these outstanding undergraduates have done! And what an experience to present in front of the generous benefactor, Dr. Niblack, and a panel of other experts who listen intently to every detail and then question the research scholars on particulars of their projects. OSU has such amazing faculty and graduate student mentors that pour into undergraduate students to help them thrive. Well done, all! 👏👏

That's a wrap! The Cambridge Scholars Program 2026: The Era of World Wars has come to a close. It was truly an excellent course, taught by wonderful knowledgeable professors, managed by diligent organizers 😉, and attended by an incredible group of stellar OSU students. Thank you to everyone who helped make this program possible, including the Lew Wentz Foundation, OSU Global, and our hosts Magdalene College at the University of Cambridge.

The Cambridge Scholars Program merges quality class time and discussions with hands-on outtings where we can see artifacts, interactive maps, exhibits and be among the places where events we are learning about took place.

We had a wonderful visit to St. John's College Library, opened in 1628, which maintains the original oak bookcases, houses over 200 medieval manuscripts, 300+ books printed before 1500, and personal papers and collections of prestigious alumni, including renowned photographer Sir Cecil Beaton. The beautiful Bridge of Sighs is part of St. John's College, which we saw from the river, but the library visit provided a unique glimpse into history and preservation.

On Saturday we journeyed to London to visit the Imperial War Museum, which helped us better understand the daily reality of both World Wars 1 and 2 from multiple perspectives. It was harrowing but educational, and brought many elements of the course together.

Our official welcome evening, complete with a group photo near Pepys Library and formal dinner by candlelight in the College Hall, is always a highlight. We have a wonderful group and enjoyed a very fine evening at Magdalene (pronounced Mawd-lin), one of 31 colleges that make up the University of Cambridge and our host.
