Last week, Dr. LaBar’s Environmental Sampling and Analysis class got into the stream for the first time this semester for a perennial favorite activity for students in our program. Students performed a habitat assessment on an urban stream in Stillwater, evaluating its physical conditions and suitability for aquatic organisms like fish and macroinvertebrates. We were fortunate to have great weather on both days in the stream! 💦🐟📝🧪🔬

Our students were honored to participate in planting at OSU's Heritage Garden after its opening ceremony this morning. This garden is representative of a traditional medicine wheel, which is sacred to many Native American tribal nations, and honors the plants' medicinal purposes and their significance to Indigenous members of the Cowboy Family. 🌱🎋🌾💚

Join the Environmental Science Club today — Oklahoma Native American Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day — in the establishment of OSU’s Heritage Garden with the installation of a medicine wheel. Students are invited to help with planting immediately after the ceremony. This representation of a medicine wheel, which is sacred to many tribal nations, will celebrate plants, their medicinal purposes, and their significance to Indigenous members of the Cowboy family. 🌱🎋🌾
