Board Member, Megan Che, reflecting on her favorite SSMA memory: "The SSMA 2013 Convention was in San Antonio, TX, and featured the first sessions I had ever attended on Augmented Reality. The keynote speaker for the opening session was Dr. Rogers from Baylor University whose incredibly engaging discussion of available AR apps was followed by a regular session in which I learned more details about how to use the AR apps. These sessions got me excited and curious about augmenting reality and I took the first opportunity I had to try it out with some penguins, which I promptly shared with my young kids, who were also instantly intrigued and excited about trying AR for themselves.This is one of my favorite SSMA memories, because where else could such a topic, perfectly intersecting several STEM disciplines, be so accessible for up close and personal, direct engagement?? I returned to my campus reinvigorated, as has happened so many times at SSMA—but this was the only time with my AR twin penguins in tow!"
