Today's Safety Champion is Ryder Holloway from MEP – Life Safety at Oklahoma State University!

Ryder was nominated for his constant dedication to safety, both on and off the job site. Whether he’s performing a lockout/tag out procedure or ensuring proper job site housekeeping, Ryder consistently demonstrates the kind of safety diligence that helps keep those around him safe.

Just last week, Ryder noticed a coworker was preparing to use a 10-foot ladder without first completing a proper inspection. Ryder immediately identified that the ladder supports were loose. Further inspection revealed that the left A-frame support had completely come off the ladder. His attention to detail prevented a potentially serious incident that could have resulted in severe injury or even death.

This is just one example of Ryder’s ongoing commitment to looking out for the safety of his coworkers. His vigilance, knowledge and willingness to speak up make him a true leader when it comes to workplace safety.

Thank you, Ryder, for being a great example of what it means to be a Safety Champion!🏆🤠

Today's Safety Champion is Dr. Danny Maples, Research Assistant Professor in Physiological Sciences at Oklahoma State University!

Dr. Maples was nominated for his outstanding commitment to safety while performing research in and helping manage OSU’s BSL-3 laboratories, the highest-risk biological research labs on campus. His work requires exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety policies and procedures to protect everyone working in these spaces.

In addition to regularly working with federal agencies such as the CDC and USDA on safety procedures, Dr. Maples participates in a 24-hour on-call schedule to provide emergency support for the labs. He also serves on OSU’s Institutional Biosafety Committee, helping review and approve safety protocols and address biohazardous incidents and concerns across campus.

Dr. Maples doesn’t hesitate to speak up when he sees a safety issue, making safety a priority in everything he does. We applaud your dedication to keeping our OSU community safe, Dr. Maples! 👏🏆

This month’s Employee Spotlight is Brinney Mahmood! 🌟

If Brinney could instantly master any skill, she’d choose archery, a skill she’d love to develop for the challenge and adventure of exploring the outdoors. If she could travel anywhere tomorrow, she’d head to Sargodha, Pakistan. Outside of work, Brinney enjoys giving back through involvement with philanthropic organizations and spending weekends experiencing the fine arts. And when it comes to favorite food, nothing beats her aunts’ traditional Pakistani, halal cuisine!

Thanks for all you do, Brinney! We’re grateful to have you on the EHS team.
