My name is Batuel, and I am a fourth-year graduate student working in the Experimental Adaptive Magnetic Metamaterials Research Group with Dr. Julius De Rojas. I had the opportunity to attend the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Computational Materials Science and Engineering in Newry, Maine. The conference exposed me to the latest research in computational materials science, including advanced modeling techniques and the growing applications of artificial intelligence in materials design and computational modeling. It also provided valuable opportunities to interact with researchers from around the world, participate in discussions and poster sessions, and build professional connections. Overall, this experience broadened my understanding of computational approaches to materials research and provided valuable insights that I can bring back to my own research.

Congratulations to Physics Graduate student Samiur Mir who received the Distinguished Graduate Fellowship!

Samiur has been awarded the Distinguished Graduate Fellowship by the OSU Foundation and Graduate College for the 2026–2027 academic year. This prestigious fellowship recognizes graduate students who demonstrate outstanding academic and research achievement, along with leadership. Mehran Yasir is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Physics, where he conducts research in the de Rojas Group. He was selected to attend the 2026 IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School in Cairo, Egypt—a competitive, fully funded program sponsored by the IEEE Magnetics Society and hosted at the American University in Cairo. The program brought together graduate students and leading researchers from around the world for lectures and discussions on emerging topics in magnetism and magnetic materials. Mehran presented his ongoing research, exchanged ideas with experts in the field, and built connections with fellow researchers from around the world.

Sumit Biswas is a graduate student at Oklahoma State University. This summer he attended the 2026 Theoretical Advanced Study Institute (TASI) at the University of Colorado Boulder, an intensive summer school for graduate students in theoretical physics. During the program, he participated in advanced lectures and research discussions on particle physics, cosmology, quantum gravity, dark matter, and axion physics, while also connecting with students and researchers from around the world.
