It’s important to remember your batteries don’t belong in the trash! Batteries that end up in the trash have caused several fires this year alone leading to thousands of dollars in damage. Instead, recycle them safely and responsibly by visiting batterysafetynow.org to see where the nearest drop off battery recycling location is to you.

You can recycle your batteries in three easy steps:

-Tape the terminals
-Find the closest battery recycling location to you
- Recycle your batteries

That’s it! Recycle right and dispose of your batteries responsibly.

We are thrilled to share that Goodwill Central Oklahoma will be on-site collecting your gently used clothing and household items! Please see graphic for a full list of acceptable items. Lithium-Ion batteries may be great for gadgets, but they're bad for trash.

ALL lithium batteries have the potential to cause dangerous fires in our trash and recycling trucks and at our facilities, putting our employees' lives at risk.

Where are lithium batteries found?

* laptops, tablets, smartphones, e-readers, gaming devices
* personal tracking devices
* scooters, e-bikes
* digital and video cameras
* wireless headphones, earbuds and smart watches
* portable power banks and chargers

Keep lithium-based batteries OUT of your trash or recycling cart, and instead use these resources:

1. City's Household Hazardous Waste Facility www.okc.gov/hhw

2. The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden accepts smaller items that are recycled. Funds help with conservation efforts - see their list here -> https://www.okczoo.org/conservation-initiatives

3. Local big box hardware stores - visit https://batterynetwork.org/locator/ for a site near you.
