Black women are navigating their bodies through systems that were not built to see them, hear them, or care for them fully. The data makes this plain: 42% of Black women surveyed reported struggling with depression during the menopausal transition. Black women die from maternal causes at a rate of 50.3 per 100,000 live births โ more than three times the rate of White women. And Black women face an HIV diagnosis rate eleven times higher than their White counterparts. These numbers are not statistics. They are our mothers, our sisters, and ourselves.
