The Stockton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated concluded our recognition of World AIDS Day 2025 with a series of meaningful events.

Activities began with a Mindful Doodling Zoom session on November 29, where participants created artwork that was displayed on December 1 in honor of World AIDS Day.

The program also included a discussion and a presentation on collegiate resources by guest speaker Yvette Quintana from the University of the Pacific’s Center for Inclusion and Identity.

A candlelight memorial was held to honor those currently fighting HIV/AIDS, those we have lost, and the loved ones they leave behind. Certificates of participation were presented to attendees.

The International Awareness and Involvement Committee also shared educational information and hosted interactive quizzes for the chapter. The observance concluded at our February 6 meeting with the presentation of alliance-colored bracelets as a symbol of strength and solidarity.

The Stockton Alumnae Chapter is proud to offer scholarships to support graduating high school seniors in our community! If you or a student you know is planning to continue their education, we encourage you to apply!

💰 Scholarship Amount: $500–$1000�📅 Application Deadline: 2/28

Scholarship applications are available to high school seniors who meet the following criteria:

1. Attend a high school school in Lodi, Stockton, Ripon, Salida, or Modesto (North of Carpenter St.).
2. Scholarship: 2.5 GPA or higher.
3. Demonstrated Service: Applicant must demonstrate involvement in community service (school and non-school).

National Day of Service update & Thank Yous❤️

What an incredible day!

Through our Little Library Crawl & Story Time, we collected over 450 books and distributed them to Little Free Libraries throughout our community, helping put more books into the hands of children and families who need them most.

A heartfelt thank you to our sorors of the Tracy Area Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for your continued support and commitment to service. We are especially grateful to our guest speaker, Soror Teka Sims of the Tracy Area Alumnae Chapter, for sharing such an impactful message on the importance of reading literacy and its lasting influence on our youth.

We also want to give a special shout-out to our high school students who stepped up to read during story time, your leadership, confidence, and willingness to serve truly made the day meaningful for our younger readers.

Thank you as well to the everyone who showed up, served with purpose, and helped make this day a success.

This is what service, collaboration, and community look like. Together, we are making a meaningful impact, one book at a time ❤️📖

October 2025 Recap:

✨ Celebrating International Day of the Girl! ✨

Girl Scout Troop 1769, in collaboration with the Stockton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s International Awareness and Involvement Committee, spent a powerful afternoon diving into the importance of the CROWN Act and cultural preservation.

Our discussion centered on recognizing and addressing biases toward hairstyles, attire, make-up, and the ways we can uplift one another in environments where negativity shows up.

The girls shined with a skit performance of “I Am Not My Hair” and a fun, empowering lip-sync to Dove’s “Stand Up and Put On Your Crown” by Miss Van Van! 👑🎤

We are so proud of these young leaders for embracing confidence, culture, and community. ❤️💫

The Stockton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. annually awards multiple scholarships and coordinates the distrbution of several special-donor scholarships. Scholarships may go toward studies at an accredited two-year (including technical schools, junior or community colleges) or four-year colleges and universities. Apply today!!
