The Center sponsors courses on a wide range of topics related to Indian culture and civilization; hosts Visiting Scholars; sponsors the Distinguished Lecture Series and the Performing arts Series; organizes symposia and conferences and assists university faculty, research scholars, and departments in their India-related initiatives; Outreach programs in schools, colleges, museums, and public libra

ries, and for the media; offers scholarships; publishes books and thematic journals; runs the India Reference Library; assists media organizations, civic institutions, and community organizations in the India-related initiatives; and in general, serves as a resource center for a better understanding of Indian society and culture, both traditional and contemporary.
