“At the end of May, I had the opportunity to attend the Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, inc. National Convention in Flushing, New York, for three unforgettable days. It was an incredible experience getting to meet sisters from chapters across the country, hear their stories about why they joined Delta Phi Lambda, and learn about the amazing initiatives and programs they are leading on their own campuses. It was inspiring to see how each chapter contributes to our sisterhood while sharing the same values and mission. Throughout the weekend, we were able to network, exchange ideas, and create friendships that will continue long after convention.

On the first day, we kicked things off with a warm welcome from our National Board, followed by fun sisterhood games that helped everyone connect. We also participated in New Member Education training, which was incredibly informative and gave us new ideas to bring back to our chapter.

Day two was filled with valuable learning opportunities, including a seminar on healthy decision-making and critical thinking that encouraged meaningful discussions and personal reflection. That evening, we attended a beautiful banquet where we celebrated our sisterhood and witnessed the chartering of a new alumnae chapter, a truly memorable moment that highlighted the continued growth of Delta Phi Lambda.

On the final day, we had the privilege of hearing from a charter member of the UConn chapter, who shared her inspiring journey and spoke about her career after graduation. We also attended a session on how Greek life can shape your future, which reinforced the lifelong impact of leadership, service, and sisterhood. To close out convention, we participated in a philanthropy event where we assembled hygiene kits for those in need, ending the weekend with an opportunity to give back to the community. Overall, convention was an amazing, educational, and inspiring experience. I left convention with new friendships, fresh ideas to bring back to our chapter, a deeper appreciation for Delta Phi Lambda, and memories that I’ll always cherish.“

This April our lovely chapter sister Victoria Avila (SP ‘25) had the opportunity to attend this year’s Lambda Hill Days as a part of Cohort X. She was able to speak with representatives alongside sisters and advocate for important political issues! 🩶🏛️

“During my time on the Hill, I was able to meet with representatives for Chris Murphy, Richard Blumenthal, and Jim Hymes, who are all congresspeople for the state of Connecticut. In my meetings, I urged them to put affordable healthcare at the top of their list of concerns. My research on this topic focused mainly on women of color, and how a lack of affordable healthcare can disproportionately impact that demographic.

Knowing I had 30+ other sisters in this cohort from across the nation backing me up helped me feel more confident in my research and presentation. Other sisters touched on issues such as immigration, education, and environmental reform.

I am incredibly thankful that LTA has given me the opportunity to use my voice as a citizen to make a real impact. It reminded me the importance of staying involved and informed, especially in today’s political climate. Overall it has been a very fulfilling experience that will stick with me for years to come. I look forward to reapplying next year!”

We are so proud of our chapter sister for her work in D.C.! 🌴🌙
