It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the recent passing of former School of Business Dean Thomas Gutteridge, who led the School from 1992 to 2002. During that time, he was instrumental in elevating the school from regional to national prominence. He also oversaw the construction of the $27 million building that currently houses our programs. A team of UConn accounting faculty members has been awarded a prestigious grant to study The Consequences of Private Equity Investment in Accounting. The grant recipients include professors Steven Utke, Ying Zhou, and Youli Zou, and Ph.D. candidate Tuan Doan. The study will explore how private equity investment is reshaping accounting firms, including its effects on growth, talent acquisition, mergers and acquisitions, audit quality, operational efficiency and profitability. The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) awarded the grant, in excess of $14,000, to UConn, as well as two other research teams whose projects address some of the profession’s most pressing issues.
