SigEp at UConn and the Connecticut Alpha AVC are saddened to share the passing of Renaissance Brother Alex Defranceso. The younger brother of three Connecticut Alphas, Alex was a good friend of AVC volunteers Jonathan Wharton and Van Augur, and frequently hosted the chapter’s executive-board retreat at his establishment in Northford. In recognition of his devotion to SigEp, the chapter initiated him into the renaissance of brotherhood in 2024.

Eternal rest grant unto our departed brother, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

This summer, brother Mike Uzzilia took his passion for medicine across the globe, spending a month in Mombasa, Kenya through International Medical Aid. “Uzzi ” volunteered at local hospitals and rotated through multiple departments to learn about healthcare in a new setting while serving the community. He also got to embark on a once in a lifetime safari through the Maasai Mara. Uzzi’s journey embodies what it means to be a balanced man of SigEp.

Our brothers Nikho Torres and Jack Nachtygal represented CT Alpha at the Ruck Leadership Institute! Over the course of an unforgettable week, they explored SigEp’s history, developed their leadership through the Five Pillars of Leadership, and built lasting connections with alumni and fraternity leaders from across the country. We’re excited to see them bring what they learned back to our chapter.
