Crafting Kin: A Year of Socially Engaged Art. Lang Center Engaged Humanities Studio Fellowship.

By inviting social practice artists for a series of workshops and programming, Crafting Kin: A Year of Socially Engaged Art will help foster a culture of dialogue and mutual aid among Swarthmore students. Learning from others, the project invites us to think creatively and collectively about how to resist difficult historical times

Option to receive credit for participation! Inquire with Professor Paloma Checa-Gismero.

Five meetings per semester, project development, opportunity to work with local artists over the summer. Limited spots. Mondays, 12 - 1.30pm.

Students willing to commit to attending the five sessions please reach out to Prof. Checa-Gismero. Students enrolled for half credit will work towards proposing and implementing a socially engaged art project in spring 2026. Throughout the process they will work alongside Philadelphia-based artist and curator Daniel Tucker and Prof. Checa-Gismero.
