Today, September 26, marks the launch of our fiscal year 2020 Sweet Briar Fund initiative to raise $6 million by June 30, 2020! Our goal this year is not only to raise those unrestricted dollars, but to do so with 30% participation from alumnae. Every gift from an alumna, no matter the size, is critical and will help us reach our participation goals.

“When you surround yourself with powerful women, you become one,” says senior Nicole Sabovik, who will join the Enterprise Management Training Program in Richmond. Woohoo! 🎉 “I can proudly say that my life has changed for the better because of the lifelong friendships I’ve made,” adds the business major from Ridgefield, Conn. “At Sweet Briar, I learned my value and found my voice. I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned from my in-class and extracurricular experiences to the real world.” Her favorite tradition? Step Singing “because it’s one tradition where all of the classes come together to share their love for SBC.”

Sweet Briar is a place where the “makers of tomorrow,” as President Meredith Woo has called our students, develop critical leadership skills and build lifelong networks.

Gifts to the Sweet Briar Fund support our academic programs and innovative curriculum like our CORE 130 course. This multidisciplinary study of the social, cultural, and political issues that influence women around the world brings speakers to campus to address these diverse challenges. The world is taking note of Sweet Briar and its curriculum: we were named one of the country’s top innovative schools by US News and World Report in September 2018.

An anonymous donor has made a gift of $500,000 to challenge the Sweet Briar community to meet the second goal for our March Days of Giving: an additional $500,000 raised by March 10, 2019. Last year, we met our goal one day early. Let’s see if we can reach our goal TWO DAYS early this year!
