The Faculty Development Academy celebrated its final summer program this week, graduating Cohort #6 and reaching a total of 151 graduates, surpassing its goal of 150.

Cohort #6, the smallest group this summer with 16 participants from 6 campuses, represented eight instructional programs: Building Construction, Industrial Systems, Auto Collision, Precision Machining, Welding, Licensed Vocational Nursing, Semiconductor Technology, and HVAC.

This summer, nearly 1 in 5 Texas State Technical College faculty members received training, leading to better education for students statewide. Graduates will benefit from 6 months of mentorship as they apply their learning.

Today was an incredible day at our Sweetwater campuses as we welcomed a vibrant wave of new students! 🎉

Families rolled in with excitement, bringing clothes, laptops, and those must-have mini fridges to their new homes. Everyone had a blast enjoying delicious hamburgers for lunch and getting ready for new student orientation!

Our amazing community members were on hand to share insights about the fantastic services available in Nolan County. Parents engaged with our awesome administration while students whipped up mouth-watering ice cream sundaes! 🤩

We can’t wait to see all these bright faces again as they gear up for the fall semester starting on Sept. 8! Let’s make this an unforgettable year!

Move-in day is just around the corner at our Sweetwater campus! Our RAs and housing director have shared some helpful tips for students living on campus this fall:

Students are welcome to bring hard-surface furniture, but please keep in mind:
• Plush or upholstered personal furniture, such as bean bags or similar seating, is not allowed.
• Any personal hard-surface furniture should be small, lightweight, and easy for students to assemble.
• Students are responsible for transporting their furniture to their rooms, which may involve carrying it up several flights of stairs.
• Avoid bringing furniture that requires housing staff to move, assemble, or transport.
• Remember that college-provided furniture, including a desk, is already included in the rooms, so less is often more.

The RAs also remind everyone to leave the following items at home: space heaters, hot plates, air fryers, broilers, immersion heaters, or any appliances with exposed heating elements. Additionally, please refrain from bringing candles and incense (even if you don’t plan to light them), Scentsy/wax warmers, plug-in scent devices, Christmas lights, and non-battery-operated string lights.

A great tip for first-time residents: Don’t try to bring your entire bedroom from home. Start with the essentials. After living in your space for a week or two, you'll have a better idea of what you truly need and what will fit.

This comprehensive 132-hour program provides hands-on training in machining raw materials, measurement techniques, machine tool math, maintenance, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). You’ll enhance your problem-solving and critical thinking abilities in a collaborative shop environment.

🚀 Exciting News from the Faculty Development Academy! 🎉

We celebrate the successful conclusion of Cohort #5, with 31 dedicated faculty members completing the program.

With the first five cohorts combined, the Faculty Development Academy has now graduated a total of 138 faculty members.

The successful ex*****on of five cohorts during our inaugural summer highlights the FDA's capability to scale rapidly while equipping new faculty with a solid foundation for instructional excellence. The Academy remains committed to supporting our graduates through a comprehensive six-month development and mentorship process, reinforcing TSTC’s core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity.

Program Highlights:
