👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼 Congratulations to Darryl Young, PT, DPT, WCS, on her promotion to clinical associate professor of Physical Therapy!

Darryl joined the Department of Physical Therapy Education in 2018 as a clinical assistant professor. She is an expert in women’s health physical therapy, as demonstrated by her ABPTS specialist certification. Her professional contributions have also been recognized with the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy President’s Award. As Director of Clinical Education, Darryl oversees more than 160 clinical rotations each academic year. Strong course evaluations reflect the care, expertise, and sustained effort she brings to developing and maintaining high-quality clinical learning experiences that meet student needs. Darryl also serves as co-chair of the Clinical Partnership Committee.

👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼 Congratulations to Yi-Ling "Irene" Kuo, PhD on her promotion to associate professor of Physical Therapy!

Irene joined the Department of Physical Therapy Education in 2020 as an assistant professor. Her research focuses on neurophysiology, neuromodulation, motor control, dystonia, stroke, and mild traumatic brain injury. She has built a productive and coherent program of inquiry using transcranial magnetic stimulation and related methods to better understand and improve rehabilitation outcomes. Her scholarship includes 10 peer-reviewed journal articles, including first- and senior-author publications, as well as numerous presentations at national and international scientific meetings. Since joining Upstate, she has secured both intramural and external funding.

Most recently, Irene received an NIH grant for a clinical trial examining the dose effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on persistent headaches and post-concussion symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury, while also exploring biomarkers that may help identify candidates for neuromodulation therapy. Through the CHP mentoring program, Irene worked with Stephen Glatt in Psychiatry to strengthen her grant-writing skills and develop a new interdisciplinary line of research. Her collaborators also include Claudine Ward, Frank Middleton, and Carolee Winstein.

👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼 Congratulations to James Vossler, MS, MLSCM (ASCP) SMCM on his promotion to associate professor of Clinical Laboratory Science!

Jim has been an Upstate faculty member since 1995 and was promoted to assistant professor in 1997. He is an expert in clinical laboratory science and microbiology and is credentialed as a Specialist in Microbiology through the American Society for Clinical Pathology. For more than 25 years, he has served as a site reviewer for National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences program accreditation. Throughout his career, Jim has maintained a sustained record of scholarship that includes peer-reviewed journal articles, invited textbook chapters, conference presentations, educational research, and publications spanning clinical microbiology, laboratory education, and diagnostic science. His repeated contributions to major editions of Clinical Immunology and Serology, a widely used educational text, are particularly noteworthy. Jim’s work reflects a longstanding commitment to his students and to advancing both laboratory science and laboratory science education.

Senior Radiation Therapy students spent part of their Fall Break back at Silverman Hall, connecting with the junior class and sharing their knowledge of radiation therapy practices through group presentations. For Physician Assistant student Alexis Durocher, PA '28, this year's White Coat Ceremony was about more than receiving a white coat. It was a chance to celebrate her grandmother, Marie Winters, whose lifelong dedication to nursing inspired Alexis's passion for healthcare.

From supporting her through years of schooling to modeling compassion, resilience, and selfless service, Marie's influence helped shape the healthcare professional Alexis hopes to become.
