Last week, an article about our programs was published in the Daily Orange. We would like to clarify a few things:
⏩ Undergraduate students (and prospective students) can continue to major in nutrition, which has historically been our degree for students interested in dietetics. The nutrition science major will be phased out. It is our hope that a new track will be approved for the nutrition major that offers a curriculum for students interested in health sciences and human performance.
⏩ Graduate students can continue to apply for, and enroll in, our MA program, which includes coursework and experiential learning for future dietitians. We are no longer enrolling students in our MS degree program. Going forward, we hope to offer a MS program in conjunction with Exercise Science.
We continue to be proud of all the accomplishments of our current students and amazing alumni!
SU cut its nutrition science programs last semester, a year after closing food studies. The cuts are largely justified by decreased student enrollment.
