Happy National Foundation Day!
Today, Feburary 11th is a Japanese national holiday, celebrating the foundation of Japan and the accession of our first emperor, Emperor Jimmu at Kashihara gū on 11 February 660 BC.

二月十一日が”建国記念の日”と定められていますが,　この日は日本が生まれた日（建国記念日）ではないのです。理由としては、日本の起源がハッキリと解明されていないため 、初代天皇神武天皇即位の日,二月十一日を日本に生を受けたことをお祝いする日として制定したそうです。

Hello Syracuse!

Tomorrow (February 10th), the Japanese department is holding a movie event at 4:00-6:20pm in HBC Kittridge lecture hall!
The movie, Spirited Away, is directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was released in 2001 and has become the most successful film in Japanese history. IT IS A GREAT MOVIE so come and watch it!
