We honor all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks and mourn with those they left behind. We offer remembrance to all those who have given their lives in service in Afghanistan since: the fallen service men and women, our Afghan comrades--interpreters, fighters, helpers--and recognize the sacrifices they and their families and loved ones made. We remember those in the forces of our allies who gave their lives and grieve with their loved ones. We remember all who otherwise lost their lives or lost those they cared for and have faced hardships in this conflict, including those who had no direct part in the battles. May we strive, as one world, to work for peace.
