Today, we officially dedicate a new home for a piece of world history on The Heights.

A section of the Berlin Wall, previously displayed at Syracuse's Museum of Science and Technology (MOST), now stands outside Reilly Hall, offering our community a tangible connection to history and an opportunity to reflect on the importance of freedom, unity and understanding. As President LeMura reminds us, the wall represents an important chapter in global history and the divisions that can arise in our world. Its presence also creates opportunities for students to explore those lessons through history, political science, economics, art and beyond.

A section of the Berlin Wall has arrived at Le Moyne, where the historic artifact will become a campus landmark and resource for teaching and learning.

Joining us for our Fall Open House on Sunday? Our students have some advice for making the most out of your day: "Spend as much time at the academic/club fair as you can. This is a great place to talk with campus staff, professors, and current students about campus life. Every academic department and many clubs, athletes, and student groups will be there to talk to you about what you’re interested in and how you could fit right in at Le Moyne."

From spotting bald eagles at Onondaga Lake to hiking through Pharsalia Woods, exploring Tinker Falls and lending a hand with neighborhood cleanups, Le Moyne's Environmental Sustainability Club knows how to turn a passion for the planet into an adventure! Along the way, they're discovering new places, learning about organic farming and green building, making friends and finding meaningful ways to care for the world around them.

Can art make us feel better? Can spending time in nature change the way we experience the world? Those are just some of the questions students explore in Art + Wellness, a first-year Core seminar that brings creativity, nature and well-being together.

And the learning doesn't stay in the classroom! Our students transform Grewen Plaza each fall into a colorful temporary art installation, putting their creativity to work for the entire campus community to enjoy. Join us tomorrow for the latest "Brewing Ideas" at the McNeil Firehouse. Celebrate the launch of Culinaria: Women of Color Rewriting Our Food Stories with a conversation exploring gender, race and the politics of the plate.
Le Moyne Sociology Professor and co-editor Farha Ternikar, Ph.D., will be joined by scholars Janaka Bowman Lewis, Ph.D., Patricia Clark, Ph.D., and Sucharita Kanjilal, Ph.D., for a discussion about feminist food studies and the stories we tell through food.
