What will you do with a degree in Communication & Rhetorical Studies? The possibilities are endless! 🌟

First-year students recently got the chance to chat with Celine Rahman ’13, fashion designer and founder of Cup of Rahman, and Eric Devendorf ’15, former professional basketball player and current broadcaster, to discover where a degree could take them.

Thank you to all the alumni who helped welcome our newest Orange family members this semester. 🧡

How would you show where you experience stress and strength on a body image? 🤔

Students in Materials and Techniques of Art Therapy Practice (ATR 614) recently explored this and more through body mapping during their one-week on-campus residency.

Curious about the program behind this work? Our art therapy M.S. is a hybrid program that combines two on-campus residencies with online learning. 🎨

A performance that debuted at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital is headed to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. 🏥🎭

“Places I Go from My Bed,” created by three Department of Drama faculty members, turns hospital objects into tools for fantastical adventures.

For Katherine McGerr, associate professor of acting, the project holds special meaning. Treated for a neurological tumor as a child, McGerr remembers being unable to leave the hospital bed.

“I have, for a long time, wanted to be able to make a piece that would serve those kids,” McGerr says. “[Erica Murphy] was the first person I thought of because of her movement and physical theater expertise.”

A 30-minute performance with 10 minutes of hands-on shadow exploration, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe show will be held at The Space @ Niddry Street Studio. The show runs Aug. 10-15, with tickets available online.
