Mount St. Helens Institute is seeking a Volunteer Programs Manager
We are looking to fill our Volunteer Programs Manager position. The Volunteer Programs Manager ensures the growth, sustainability, and excellence of MSHI’s volunteer programs including climbing and hiking stewards, visitor center docents, trail and maintenance crews, event and education volunteers and special projects. Additionally, the position manages and facilitates the Volcano Naturalist Program, a 12-week naturalist certification course. The Volunteer Programs Manager is the primary point of contact for over 12,000 annual hours of volunteer time, contributed by over 300 dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. This position demands a diverse and dynamic skill set. A successful candidate will possess the interpersonal skills to support and empower our community, the organizational skills to manage complex program logistics, and an appreciation for the unique place and meaning of Mount St. Helens. The School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences is looking for one student employee to assist with our general administrative operations during late Spring and Summer 2024. Qualified candidates will be able to work independently, work efficiently, be personable, and perform varying tasks, moving from one to another with ease.

General Duties
· Provide excellent customer service to our students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
· Check in appointments and notify/inform the appropriate individual through MS Teams.
· Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via email using the DeskPro Ticketing System.
· Data entry and word processing
· Assist with SIAS records maintenance.
· Maintain/compile a list of office supplies.
· Schedule events via UW Tacoma’s 25Live.
· Collect and catalog quarterly syllabi and office hours for all SIAS faculty.
· Assist supervisor with compiling Course Evaluation packets including collecting the evaluations and scanning the results.
· Maintain staff and faculty mailboxes including receiving and processing mail/packages.
· Assist with meetings and events (setting up meeting rooms, taking notes or meeting minutes, and disseminating).
· Keep SIAS reception area, faculty mailroom, and supply room stocked and tidy at all times.
· Performed other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified applicants will be a current University of Washington Tacoma student in good academic standing with the university and uphold all of the University standards of conduct. Experience with general office equipment (phone, computer, fax, copier, scanner) and Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word and Excel. Positive, professional attitude and an orientation to service. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Familiarity with University programs is highly preferred. Able to follow instruction with a strong attention to detail. Good judgment and sensitivity to confidential issues. Strong organizational skills. FERPA training will be required upon hire.
