While colonization influenced Indigenous education, it never stopped Native peoples from educating one another. Our guest speaker for April’s Lunch and Learn is Dr. Julie L. Reed.

Understanding ways in which Cherokees taught and learned from each other over the course of more than four centuries takes a heroine’s journey. Reed’s “Land, Language, And Women: A Cherokee and American Educational History” reclaims Cherokee perspectives that reveal surprising continuity amid powerful change.

Join us for this Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, April 15, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the NSU Jazz Lab in downtown Tahlequah, Oklahoma. A light lunch is provided — you may also bring your own lunch to this event.
